Will is 2 years old today.
I had a hard time sleeping last night. I kept waking up and looking at the clock.
At around 2 am I rolled over, saw the time, and thought about the fact that 2 years ago at that same time Will was born.
It made me appreciate my nice, soft bed a lot more remembering the hospital beds.
It also made me realize that it will still be a long time before I do anything like that again!

Spring Wonderland?
This morning when I got up and looked outside that song "Winter Wonderland" came to mind. We had a storm come through in the last 24 hours and we now have about 1 inch of snow on the ground.
When I watched the weather report this morning the news didn't get any better. We are supposed to have another 2 storms come through in the next week or so and dump more snow on us.
I wish that this was an April Fools joke, but I'm not that clever.
I'm so freakin' sick of the cold. I just want the sun to shine for a while.
At least with the weather being miserable I don't feel so bad about taking Will back to the aquarium this Saturday. They have a new penguin exhibit. Hopefully it won't be packed.
If the weather was nicer we could do something outside.
Oh well...

Dinosaur Museum
We decided to take William to the Museum of Ancient Life over the weekend. We figured that it would be a good way to spend a snowy Saturday afternoon, since we couldn't be outside due to the weather.
By the time that we got down to the museum we all needed a snack. So, before we even went into the actual exhibits we stopped at the cafe. Will had a soft pretzel and he liked dipping it in the nacho cheese.
Once we ate we went into the exhibits. Here is Will and Paul next to a life-size dino mural.
Will liked the displays showing the ancient fish. He just couldn't understand why these fish didn't move.
This is another life-size display that hangs from the ceiling above the walkway.
They have windows along the displays so that little people can see, too.
Will liked pushing the buttons on the world map. When you push the button next to a dinosaur the place where that dinosaur lived lights up on the wall map.
They have a large erosion table for the kids to play with. They can build up walls of sand and watch the water wash the plastic dinosaurs and plants downstream, like in a flash flood.
Will didn't like it very much. He didn't like that the sand got on his hands. He kept asking me to wipe them off.

Paul tried to show Will how to move the sand around, but he got mad because he didn't like the feeling of the sand.
I think that the highlight of the day for Will was the hand dryer that we used to dry off after the erosion table. It was right at his height and he liked pushing the button.

Hats and PJ's
Grandma Rhonda likes to take pictures of Will's clothes.

I have a feeling that if we didn't have Will around to dress up Rhonda would have the dogs in little outfits more often.
I'm sure that the dogs are happy that we have Will. :-)

Sick Boy
It's miserable to have a sick child.
Right now Paul, Nina, and I are taking turns staying at home with Will.
He has Fifth Disease.
Don't worry, I didn't know what the heck it was when the doctor said it either, and I work in health care.
It turns out that it's a sickness caused by a human parvovirus. It causes high fever and a rash. They sometimes call it "slapped cheek" disease because of the bright red cheeks that the patients get.
Luckily he should be better after a few days. Unfortunately sometime before then he should sprout an itchy rash all over. Poor bubba...
Last night we spent most of our time snuggled together in bed. When Paul got home Will and I were watching Ratatouille and snuggling under the blankets. Not too long after that Will fell asleep on our bed.
He was so cute I took some pictures.

Auto Expo
This weekend was the 2010 Utah Auto Expo.
Usually Paul and Bob spend some quality "guy" time looking at all of the cars and seeing which of the hybrid compact cars Paul can squish into.
Usually I am more than happy to ship Paul off for the afternoon and have some time to myself.
Usually I can think of 20 different things that I would rather do then stare at every make and model of new car out there.
Usually...
This time, however, Paul decided that he would like it if Will and I came along.
So, we packed everything that we could think of to keep a toddler happy into the van and set off.
Will did seem to like playing with all of the cars. We let him sit in some and push buttons. As expected (and just like his father) he seemed to like the expensive ones more.
We saw a lot of different stuff. Half the time Will ran Grandpa around.
The other half of the time Paul carried him. (He's getting way too big and heavy for me to carry.)
When we made it over to the Ford display Paul wanted to see the new Taurus and Fiesta. We were pretty impressed that he fit into the Taurus. In fact, there was enough room for Will to sit on his lap.

As usual, Paul managed to score a hat from the Scion guys. This time it was a beanie, so he let Will have it. It kind of made him look like those B-Boys that Erin and Rhonda like to watch dance.
When we made it over to the Ford display Paul wanted to see the new Taurus and Fiesta. We were pretty impressed that he fit into the Taurus. In fact, there was enough room for Will to sit on his lap.
Most of the newer models have a lot of buttons on the steering wheel, which Will thought was a great idea. He also seems to like those flappy paddle shifters that they use a lot now. We had to be careful that he didn't break them off!
Paul's friend who works at the exotic car dealership was there, too. He had a bunch of super cars on display. I keep telling Paul that he can have one once he hits the lottery or figures out another way to pay for it.
Lord help me if my son grows up to like cars as well.

Sledding
We took Will sledding today at Grandma and Grandpa's house. He was a little unsure about it at first, but once he figured out how to hold on to the sides of the sled he enjoyed it.

For all of you out there that are wondering if Bob killed himself on that sled, or at least threw his back out... no, he didn't. However, I do have some shots of him at the bottom of the hill that were too undignified to post.
Will really liked being pulled around on the level ground by everyone. We all took turns because the snow was still pretty deep and hard to walk through. We all got a real workout today.
